Best contract logistics firms recognised by Gewerbegebiete.de industrial estate platform

Munich, 11 June 2019. The LogiVisor prize for Best Contract Logistics Company in the Fashion & Lifestyle Segment has been awarded to Fiege. The award ceremony was held at Munich’s Oberanger Theatre on Wednesday, 6 June in the vicinity of the industry’s leading transport logistic fair. Executive Board Chair Jens Fiege, with Sophie Austen, Project Manager Logistics Consulting & Purchasing, and Christoph Mangelmans, Managing Director Omnichannel Retail, accepted the award together.

The LogiVisor awards were given out for the first time this year. The industrial estate platform Gewerbegebiete.de called the competition to life with the aim of shining a spotlight on innovative logistics solutions. Successful projects within Fashion & Lifestyle, Retail & E-Commerce, Industry as well as Consumer Products were rated by a 21-member jury of experts. “We are very pleased about the award which we accept on behalf of all teams at Fiege who are committed to coming up with new ideas for innovative logistics”, said Jens Fiege. “I wish to express my gratitude to our client, Deichmann for the long-term trust placed in us, and their open-mindedness when it comes to innovative concepts, as well as our partner, Magazino, with whom we pioneer robotics within intra-logistics.”

Fiege convinced the jury of business professionals comprised of Stefan Röbel (Asos), Maximilian Molkenthin (Puma) and Guido Jaenisch (Takko) for the Fashion & Lifestyle category with its innovative use of a mobile picking robot for picking and packing footwear at Fiege’s Ibbenbüren facility for Europe’s largest shoe retailer. Equipped with camera controls and a vacuum gripper robot arm, the small helper removes parcels from the racks and readies them for transport at the packing stations.

The submissions were rated in terms of quality, complexity and degree of innovation. Moreover, the jury teams included the lived sense of business responsibility of the logistics provider behind the respective concept in their evaluation – such as complying with high social and ecological standards, or the active promotion of further education, health, and social life.
