FIEGE signs Diversity Charter

FIEGE unterzeichnet die Charta der Vielfalt

The logistics company FIEGE joined the Diversity Charter initiative. With this step, the family business from Greven in Westphalia intensifies its efforts in securing a diverse and non-discriminatory working environment for its global workforce of 22,000.

The Fiege Group has signed the Diversity Charter drawn up by Charta der Vielfalt e.V., a non-profit association that has been advocating diversity in business and society since 2010. Diversity also plays a central role for the over 150-year-old family business from Greven. Within the context of the voluntary commitment, Fiege will now be creating an additional institutional framework to promote diversity, equality and equal opportunity across the entire organisation.

Sandra Achternbusch, Executive Director Corporate Sustainability at Fiege explains: “Conscious corporate governance is the highest premise for all our actions – both from an ecological and economic perspective as well as in relation to our colleagues. As a family business, we are responsible for 22,000 people. It is therefore our mission and our duty to create a comfortable, appreciative and safe working environment. By signing the Diversity Charter, we are emphasising this even more so towards our colleagues and society.”

Alexander Neudorf, Executive Director People & Culture at Fiege who signed the official certificate together with Sandra Achternbusch added: “Every day, we witness that diverse teams make the better decisions because of their varied perspectives. That is why for us as a company it is paramount that we advocate for diversity, equality and equal opportunity in our own ranks and beyond. This is the only way to consolidate our position as a top employer in order to attract the best talent and employees for us even in the future.”

The Diversity Charter was formed in 2006 and goes back to an initiative of originally four companies. In 2010, those activities were transferred to a non-profit organisation. By now, over 5,000 companies have signed the charter. This makes the Diversity Charter Germany’s biggest employer-led initiative that aims to promote diversity at organisations and institutions.
