Anyone who wants to know what the current state of e-commerce is like should take a look at FIEGE’s balance sheet on Black Friday weekend. In total, the family-owned company from Greven in Westphalia processed more than five million orders between 25 November and 30 November 2021. Compared to 2020, the order volume in this period increased around 25 percent, and even more than doubled compared to 2019.

“These impressive figures underline the force with which e-commerce is advancing and what a central role it plays in our business models,” says Peter Scherbel, member of the Management Board of the FIEGE Group. “At the same time, these figures also show us how well, quickly and flexibly we as a company are able to respond to the changing as well as more and more complex needs of our customers and to master enormous logistical challenges.” At the same time, however, one should never forget about the immense commitment of the employees at the locations, Scherbel emphasises. “What the colleagues in our warehouses achieve, especially at the moment, is unbelievable. A huge compliment and many thanks to everybody who makes these figures possible.

Speaking of impressive figures: The FIEGE location in Ibbenbüren was able to celebrate a very special mark. On Black Friday, this year’s 10,000,000th item left the Mega Centre in the northern Münsterland region, which is specially designed to meet the needs of e-commerce customers. “This figure is just another proof for the exciting and successful path we are currently on,” Scherbel sums up.
