FIEGE opens new logistics centre in Zaandam

The FIEGE Group has opened its new logistics centre just outside Amsterdam. In just twelve months of construction, around 43,000 square metres of additional logistics space were completed for FIEGE B.V. in Zaandam. The Dutch subsidiary of the Greven-based logistics service provider will use the modern property as its new headquarters and accommodate a large part of its clients’ business there. The logistics centre is strategically located on the northern shore of the port of Amsterdam and only a few kilometres away from Schiphol Airport.

The largest customer at the multi-user capable location is the Dutch furniture brand Zuiver, for which FIEGE has been overseeing warehousing and distribution for more than ten years for meanwhile around 90,000 orders per year. Pieter Hogenhout, Managing Director of Zuiver B.V., explains: "The close partnership between the Zuiver Group and FIEGE, which has existed since 2012, is now entering a new stage. With the new distribution centre, which is only a stone's throw away from our headquarters, we are now prepared to process our orders even faster in the future. We are moving our business from what used to be five locations to one central location, which means an immense gain in efficiency. The cooperation with FIEGE over the past years has been very constructive, but above all always amicable. In the process, FIEGE has often not only fulfilled our expectations, but even exceeded them. The additional new building in the HoogTij Business Park is located in the immediate vicinity of the previous FIEGE branch in Zaandam, which will remain in operation for future use. The design and construction of the logistics centre, realised by the FIEGE Real Estate division, also took ecological and social aspects into account. The building is infused with natural light to create an inviting working climate and features efficient building control technology as well as multiple EV charging points to advance electric mobility. The sustainable property meets the BREEAM Certification Level Excellent. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the entire roof area to produce solar power for on-site use.
