Vorwerk and FIEGE inaugurate new warehouse and logistics building
Room to grow: Vorwerk has inaugurated a new warehouse and logistics property in Schwelm. The Greven-based logistics service provider FIEGE, which has been working for the Vorwerk Group for over 25 years, is taking over operations.
The symbolic transport of the first pallet marked the opening of the new warehouse and logistics building in the "Graslake" industrial estate in Schwelm last Thursday. "Vorwerk is growing, and growth requires infrastructure, logistics and good foresighted planning," said Dr Thomas Rodemann, Member of the Executive Board of the Vorwerk Group. The Wuppertal-based family business is the tenant of the more than 45,000 square metre property, with logistics specialist FIEGE responsible for operations.
The 65 guests at the opening ceremony included the members of the project groups of the companies involved - from tenant Vorwerk and operator FIEGE, but also from project developer Hillwood and general contractor GSE. In his speech, Dr Thomas Rodemann emphasised that the growing demand for products and accessories had also increased the need for logistics capacity. He was therefore pleased that this new logistics hall had been built just six kilometres from the Vorwerk Group's largest production site in Wuppertal-Laaken. "I would particularly like to thank the colleagues involved, who have realised this project with great personal commitment. This celebration is intended as a thank-you for you."
Jens Fiege, Co-CEO of the FIEGE Group, who has been running the fifth-generation family business together with his cousin, Felix Fiege, says: "We are very grateful that we have been enjoying a continuously growing partnership with Vorwerk for almost 30 years now. The cooperation has always been characterised by deep trust, communication on eye level and shared values that closely connect our two family businesses. The inauguration of the new warehouse and logistics centre in Schwelm is another important milestone in the strategic development of our client, on which we would like to congratulate the entire Vorwerk team."
Dr Thomas Rodemann and Jens Fiege symbolically cut a green ribbon in front of one of the hall gates before the first pallet was stored. After a tour around the warehouse, the official part of the event ended with a barbecue and cool drinks as the guests looked back on the joint project work.
