FIEGE fulfils Christmas wishes
FIEGE is once again supporting socially disadvantaged children in the Münsterland region this Christmas. With a special campaign, the employees of the Greven-based family business have fulfilled the wishes of almost 300 young people who are supported by various youth institutions.
Wishes that grow on trees: since the end of November, two large fir trees – so-called wish Christmas trees – have been standing in the entrance areas of the FIEGE headquarters in Greven and the FIEGE office building at Münster harbour (X-Dock). In addition to classic Christmas tree decorations, the branches were also hung with the wishes of around 300 children and young people who live or are cared for in various social institutions in the Münsterland region. As every year, all employees of the logistics service provider were invited to take a note from the tree and become Christmas elves for the kids.
The annual campaign is coordinated by the company's own Josef Fiege Foundation, which, since its establishment in 1996, has made supporting young people one of its priorities. Christoph Mangelmans, who together with Martina Schlottbom, Kai Alfermann and Frank Sievers forms the foundation's board of directors, explains: "The Christmas wish trees are a cherished tradition for us. When I see the sparkling eyes of my colleagues as they browse through the many children's wishes, you could almost get the idea that they are also finding inspiration for their own wish lists." In the three weeks that the campaign ran, almost 300 parcels were collected. "Once again, our colleagues lovingly wrapped the parcels and added some extra gifts. We were particularly pleased that this year, employees from bpc AG, TravelWorks and EAAZE, who rent office space at X-Dock, also took part in our campaign," reports Mangelmans.

In recent days, the parcels have been delivered to five youth welfare institutions in the Münsterland region: H4 – Jugendarbeit Hansaviertel in the town of Greven, Lernen fördern e.V. in the district association of Steinfurt, Verbund sozialtherapeutischer Einrichtungen NRW e.V. in Lengerich, Vinzenzwerk Handorf e.V. and Outlaw Kinder- und Jugendhilfe gGmbH in Münster. The gifts will now be distributed by the institutions to the children and their families so that they will be under the Christmas trees in time for Christmas Eve.
