FIEGE donates discarded laptops and smartphones to the VSE NRW association
The logistics service provider FIEGE regularly supports children’s and youth welfare organisations by donating mobile devices that are no longer needed by the 150-year-old family business. The most recent donation of laptops and smartphones went to the Network of Social Therapy Centres in Münster.
Digital inclusion: FIEGE has donated 30 laptops and 30 smartphones to the Network of Social Therapy Centres in North Rhine-Westphalia (“Verbund sozialtherapeuthischer Einrichtungen”, VSE) in Münster. The discarded and fully refurbished devices are in perfect condition but are no longer in use at the logistics service provider. The IT equipment will now be available to children receiving care at the VSE’s facilities for school-related activities. The Josef Fiege Foundation, which coordinated the refurbishment and handover of the devices together with Fiege’s IT department, has been working with the VSE for many years.

Heiko Biedermann, a qualified social pedagogue and social worker at the VSE counselling centre in Münster, explains: “The digitalisation of school life is continuing to advance. To provide the best possible support for the children in our care, we need to invest continuously in the digital infrastructure of our many facilities across the Münsterland region. That is why we are very grateful to FIEGE for the hardware donation. The laptops and smartphones will help us to enable young people to participate more fully in the digital world.”
And Frank Sievers, who together with Kai Alfermann, Christoph Mangelmans and Martina Schlottbom forms the board of the Josef Fiege Foundation, says: “By donating IT equipment that is no longer used in our offices, we have found a wonderful way to support young people in the Münsterland region. And, as a side benefit, the laptops and smartphones can be reused in a sustainable and meaningful way. We wish the children at the VSE’s facilities every success and hope they enjoy their digital learning!”
