FIEGE acquires a further five electric trucks
FIEGE adds more vehicles to its e-fleet. Five new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks are joining its fleet of 20 heavy electric trucks. With this step, the Greven logistics company is further growing its zero-emission transportation offer for long-haul traffic.
FIEGE continues to drive the fleet electrification of its electric trucks forward. Last week, the logistics company received five new tractor-trailers, model eActros 600, at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Wörth. Thanks to three LFP battery packs with a total capacity of around 621 kilowatt hours, the all-electric vehicles have a reach of up to 500 kilometres without recharge. The additional eActros 600, which increases the number of heavy electric trucks in FIEGE’s international fleet to 25, will be deployed at the branches in Rangsdorf and Bremen.
Christian Thiemann, Managing Director FIEGE Transportation, explains: “The traffic and transportation sector remains one of Germany’s largest emissions drivers and has clearly been failing to meet climate change goals to date. For this reason alone, the continued decarbonisation of our fleet forms a central pillar of our sustainability strategy. We aim to steadily reduce our CO2e emissions, to live up to our responsibility as a provider of logistics services. The new electric trucks aid us in advancing zero-emission transport together with our customers.”
In Germany alone, FIEGE has by now 17 heavy electric trucks by Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Designwerk working for its customer base. During the month of August, a further electric truck model, the eGTX by MAN, will be added, which will be based at the FIEGE location in Unna. “To ensure the most flexible use of these vehicles, we are investing nationwide at our branches in the expansion of our charge point infrastructure. In Germany, we have installed 20 fast charge points by now. By the end of the year, this number will have increased to 30”, is how Thiemann outlines the plans of the over 150-year-old family business. Furthermore, in Switzerland, FIEGE currently operates eight battery-powered heavy trucks and an in-house charging station launched at the location in Oftringen in the Canton of Aargau not long ago.
