Contorion and FIEGE renew partnership early

The FIEGE Group has renewed its logistics agreement with Contorion early as a long-term commitment. The e-tailer specialised in professional tools and workshop supplies will tap the logistical expertise of the over 150-year-old family business from Greven in Westphalia going forward.
Long-term planning certainty: the tool e-tailer, Contorion will take its winning partnership with FIEGE into the future. The contract logistics specialist has been overseeing eCommerce fulfilment for Contorion at its location in Greven-Reckenfeld since 2019. At the start of 2024, FIEGE put an Autostore with 75,000 bins and 34 robots into operation for its client to increase product availability and the throughput rate. This new agreement is an early commitment on the part of both companies to their long-term partnership.

Mateusz Swist, Senior Vice President Operations at Contorion, explains: “As a specialised e-tailer, Contorion has one of the largest ranges of professional tools, workshop equipment and consumables available online. To ensure maximum customer satisfaction, it is pivotal to eCommerce fulfilment to process orders placed at short notice as well as peaks fast and reliably. Together with FIEGE, we have devised a high-performance logistics system which will allow us to offer special USPs to our customers, such as same-day shipment.” FIEGE serves the German, Austrian and French market for Contorion. “We are thrilled to have created the necessary planning certainty with this early contract renewal, to facilitate the ongoing development of our partnership”, says Swist.

Next to the Autostore, FIEGE’s logistics concept includes an AI-based robotic arm by Nomagic which is connected to one of the eleven Autostore ports. Nomagic’s robotic arm assists employees with the picking of stock withdrawals. A fully-automated packaging machine is also connected. It cuts packaging materials to size for any shipment, thereby reducing the consumption of materials. Meike Schmidt-Krenz, Managing Director at FIEGE’s Consumer Products business unit says: “As a service provider, our primary objective is the ongoing optimisation of performance and the achievement of potential savings for our clients, plus the continuing improvement of logistical process flows. The sound cooperation with Contorion was based right from the start on a very open communication at eye level which allowed us to jointly tackle and overcome challenges. We are excited for Contorion to trust us as a dependable partner going forward.”
