MR. YILMAZ YOU HAVE BEEN WITH FIEGE FOR OVER 10 YEARS NOW. WHAT HAS YOUR CAREER BEEN LIKE SO FAR?

I have been working for Fiege at the Dortmund location since August 1, 2010. I started as an industrial apprentice as a warehouse specialist. After the 2-year apprenticeship, I extended it by one year and developed further to become a warehouse logistics specialist. After passing my final exams, I was offered a permanent position at FIEGE. For the past year, I have been a team leader and commercial loading master. FIEGE has supported me in this by giving me the opportunity to participate in seminars, e.g. leading in the warehouse.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE ON AN APPRENTICESHIP AT FIEGE AND HOW WAS IT STRUCTURED?

I did an internship here in the warehouse when I was at school. I became aware of it through my father. He has been with Fiege for almost 20 years and is also a team leader. After the internship, I finished my 10th grade at school and applied at Fiege for an apprenticeship as a warehouse specialist.

WHAT WERE YOUR TASKS AS A APPRENTICE AND WHAT TASKS DO YOU TAKE ON AS A TEAM LEADER?

During my apprenticeship, I worked in the warehouse for three years. I was allowed to get to know all the industrial and commercial departments, such as goods issue, goods receipt and dispatch. As a loading master, I prepare the paperwork for loading as well as unloading the trucks. Even though the tasks are repetitive, I enjoy doing them. I share the leadership of the team with a colleague. He is a supervisor. This also includes workforce scheduling. We are a large team with about 100 employees.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE WORKING ATMOSPHERE IN THE TEAM?

The working atmosphere is very good, because we stick together as a team. No distinctions are made when it comes to working together and contact with managers. All colleagues get along well with the managers, too. We understand each other well with the commercial as well as industrial employees in the other areas. The relationship with each other is familiar. Everything is fine and this is the reason why I have been with FIEGE for more than 10 years.

WHAT DEVELOPMENT STEPS WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE AT FIEGE?

I am looking forward to getting to know new projects soon as a loading master. My tasks will then change a little, but the position will remain the same. For example, new systems will be installed, which I will then be able to work with.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO STAY WITH FIEGE?

For one thing, the working environment is familiar and you experience flat hierarchies. You get along well with all levels, from management to the temporary employment agency. We stick together and working with colleagues is a lot of fun.
On the other hand, you can achieve a lot at FIEGE. It does not matter whether you are a commercial or industrial specialist. FIEGE gives every employee the chance to develop and achieve something. Therefore, I would also recommend my employer to family and friends.
